Changes in the Body During Pregnancy

Changes in the Body During Pregnancy

Redness and Spots on the Face

During the first and sixth months of pregnancy, blood volume increases by 40% to its highest level. Increased blood pressure causes redness in the skin, especially on the cheeks. This condition, which usually makes one look as if they have blush on, is not bothersome. Also, during this period, due to the increase in estrogen hormone, acne and blackhead formation is observed in the forehead and jaw area. This condition, caused by hormonal changes, is temporary. Wrinkles may appear on the skin due to excessive weight gain.

Widening of the Hip Area

The hormone called relaxin causes skin fibers to loosen. During pregnancy, significant widening is observed in the hip area due to excessive weight gain. This condition, which returns to its previous state after childbirth, is temporary.

Stretch Marks

The abdominal area stretches due to the weight gained during pregnancy. Stretch marks form in the stretched abdominal area. Stretch marks are observed in the abdomen, hips, upper thighs, and chest areas, especially in women who gain more than 16 kilograms. Other changes seen during pregnancy include widening of the vagina, enlargement of the breasts, and swelling in the feet.
